My first post of this blog will be about my GlossyBox subscription for March 2012.
For a fee of $15/month (shipping and tax included), GlossyBox will send you a box full of 5 luxury beauty product samples to try out at home. Since it's launch in Canada in January 2012, this is the first major hiccup the company has experienced with it's delivery and shipping. The March box was supposed to arrive the "beginning of the month", but due to delays in customs, the completed boxes were not sent out until late March. This caused an obvious amount of feedback and concerns from customers. I checked daily on the company's facebook page and found dissatisfied customer complaints and dissappointment. However, I think the company did an excellent job in providing open communication with the customers (via facebook and twitter) about the delays and pending shipping/delivery info. I can understand the complexities in coordinating product order, delivery and shippment, however, I also hope that GlossyBox Canada will be able to learn a few lessons from this past month and be better prepared for the future.
With that being said, let's get to the box and products.
I have to admit, after that long wait, when other customers started posting what they got in their boxes, I could not wait any longer- the curiosity was too much to handle! (Yes, I was always the kid that opened their Christmas presents early).
This is the pretty pink box that it came in. The box is very sturdy and completely reusable.
Inside the box, pretty piece of pink ribbon with black tissue paper and a glossybox emblem sticker. I also love the pink and black inside of the box.
So the first shot of all the products inside the box. It is packed and full, full, full! A total of 6 items!
So first on the list, is a 71ml sample of Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Lotion. Although this is not a "luxury beauty product", this is a reliable, solid product that I have no complaints about. It is something that is always great to have around, so this travel size is perfect to throw into any purse or backpack to carry around.
$11.99 for 354ml (full size)

Next up, is the BAILEY Cosmetics Fresh Lip Gloss (full size). I'm pretty sure I got mine in the colour 'Pink'. The other options are the colour 'berry' or the BAILEY Cosmetics Foundation Duo.
I'm happy with the shade I received, as I think this complements my fair skin tone the best, out of the two options. I would have also been a bit skeptical with the Foundation because I am picky about the foundation I use and I am typically harder to match.
I also found the lipgloss to be very smooth, long lasting, and most importantly, non-sticky! The colour is sheer, but gives your lips a nice pink touch. This is great to wear alone or to layer over a lipstick.

The EVIAN Brumisateur Facial Spray (50ml) was next on the list. I've tried something like this before. It is a mineralized water spray for the face that helps rehydrate dull, tired skin and it also helps with setting and renewing makeup throughout the day. I didn't have much use for it, as I find Caudalie's Beauty Elixir to be much more revitalizing and effective for my skin. I immediately gave it away to my boyfriend to try instead! To me, this was not considered a luxury item, since I've tried other similar products that I've enjoyed more. But I can appreciate it's intrigue and novelty for those who have not tried or heard of it.
$7 for 50 ml
$12.50 for 150ml
$17.50 for 300ml
Sample received worth: $7 (or $2.92 if you calculate from 300ml)

Pandora's Makeup Box Blush in St. Tropez (full size, 4g) was next in line. As part of the anticipation, GlossyBox actually gave away a clue that this product would be in the box for March. I had never heard of this Canadian owned beauty company before, so I was intrigue to try it out. There was also a video posted by Susan Kirsch explaining how to use the product, and also revealing that it would be in the March GB. http://youtu.be/zDudGdfaWEY
I enjoyed the fun, eco friendly, whimsical packaging. The blush comes in a pan that is magnetized, which is for the company'ss concept of "being able to build your own palette".
As you can see in the picture, the blush is a looks like a mauve-plum-pink colour. However, when swatched on my hand and when applied to my cheeks, the colour is a pretty soft pink- lighter and brighter than expected.
Overall, I am excited to try out this product, as I enjoy blushes and experimenting with new colours.
$18 for full size blush

The fifth product in the box was Sebastian Professionals Re-Shaper Hairspray (43g/full size). I am not much of a hair product, let alone hairspray person. So when I first saw this product, I didn't think much of it. I liked the packaging, and thought it was very sleek and did embody a high end product. The product description card says that this is a salon exclusive brand and is long-lasting and suitable for all hairtypes. I have not heard of this company before, so I am curious to see how it 'holds up' (haha, get it?) to the drug store brands I use.
$19.95 for 300g
Sample received worth: $2.86
The last bonus product that was in this month's box is the ALGEMARIN Foam Bath (15ml). It is made from seaweed, algae and mineral salt extracts that tone the body, similar to effects of sea bathing or hydrotherapy. This product talks a big talk, so we got to see if it walks the walk. The sample size is 15ml, so I think this will be good for one bath. I gotta find that special day to relax and use to. Then, I'll write a better review on it ;)
$3.99 for 5x15ml
$17.99 for 500ml
$23.95 for 750ml
Sample received worth: $0.80
Total value of March GlossyBox: $54.98!
(there were some typos on the product listing card. after seeing other GlossyDot customers mention doing research on finding out the true prices, i've updated the full size pricing)
Wow, that works out nice, since the subscription fee was $15!
Overall, I enjoyed this month's box. The company also gave away 250 free GlossyDots for their delay. I will definitely keep my subscription and see how it goes for the upcoming months.
As I try out the new products from this month's box, I will write a review for each product included.
Thanks for reading, and until next time.
